Total Èire - Essence of Ireland
“Total Éire” is a documentary photography project that takes you deep into the heart of Ireland, capturing its authentic culture, stunning landscapes, and the subtle moments that define its identity. Bringing this project to life was a major achievement and the realization of an important goal for me. Fuji GW690 with Kodak Gold 200 film was chosen to reflect a slower, more contemplative process that focuses on framing. “Total Éire” is anchored in the landscape: green fields, the ever-changing skies, the windswept coasts, and the charming rural towns like Doolin. Every frame is a reflection of Ireland's timeless beauty, from the vibrant streets of Dublin to the countryside scenery. The iconic imagery of flocks of sheep, the vast sea, and rolling hills invites the viewer to experience the Irish countryside as it is alive with character, history, and emotion. A key focus of “Total Éire” is the relationship between everyday life and the natural environment, captured with careful attention to composition. Three central color elements define the work: green, blue, and grey. Green, Ireland’s iconic color, represents the beating heart of the Emerald Isle, its forests and green spaces. Blue, seen throughout the island, symbolizes both sea and the sky. Grey is deeply connected to Ireland’s ever-changing weather and the urban landscapes of its cities. In addition to the cultural and geographical aspects of Ireland, “Total Éire” also aims to explore the connection between Ireland and the United States through some of the shots.“Total Éire” is more than just a visual exploration; it is an emotional journey into the heart of a land. Through these images, I hope to convey not only the beauty of Ireland but also its spirit.

Book Project
Alessandro’s Total Éire project was published in two different formats:
1. A photo book, measuring 33x28 cm, with 90 pages, printed on photo paper.
2. A magazine, measuring 22x28 cm, with 92 pages, printed on standard paper.
This dual-format release allowed for a broader reach, catering to different audiences and preferences. I’m currently finding new collaborations with different editors to reduce production costs and improve its distribution for wider accessibility.
