A documentary journey into the heart of the land, the heart of America.
Scenes from Texas to PNW across the midwest: Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arkansas
This project is rooted in the midwest, exploring the contrast between two different Americas.
America is shaped by open landscapes, rural life, communities, and long standing traditions. America is also skyscrapers, business centers, modern life, and technological innovation.
These two identities coexist from west to east, and together shape the character and complexity of the United States.
The contrast between countryside and city life exists in many places all over the world, but in the United States is totally different.
People in rural areas are deeply connected to the land, traditions, values, and a simple way of life. These values and traditions are strongly reflected to the local community structures and political attitudes.
The land shapes the people, and the people shape the land.
In cities, cultures blend due to globalization, and identities overlap.
Between cornfields and railyards, ranches and endless roads, a life rooted in the land emerges, where farming and breeding are not just occupations, but identity.
THIS IS THE MIDWEST. THIS IS THE AMERICAN HEARTLAND.
